Start with the job you need done

The easiest way to waste money on AI is to collect subscriptions before defining the workflow. Start with a repeated business problem: writing, research, customer communication, scheduling, design, automation or analysis.

Good buying signal

You can name the repeated task, its current cost in time, and what a better result would look like.

Bad buying signal

The product is trending, but you cannot explain what recurring job it will replace or improve.

Five filters before you subscribe

  1. Task fit: Does it solve a real recurring problem?
  2. Output quality: Can you use the result with reasonable review?
  3. Privacy: What data are you putting into it?
  4. Integration: Does it fit tools you already use?
  5. Total cost: Does it replace time or another subscription?

Build a lean AI stack

For many one-person businesses, a general AI assistant plus one specialist tool and one automation layer can be more useful than ten overlapping apps. Add tools only when a measured bottleneck justifies them.

MONEY RULE

Buy AI because it removes a known bottleneck—not because the demo looks impressive.
